Zach & Sabrina ~ Statement Steel Blue Wedding in the Bluegrass

Sabrina and Zach’s story captured my attention from when they first reached out.  They started dating in high school and met working at a pizza shop.  Fast forward several years and it was time for their wedding!  I loved how involved they both were throughout the process.  Their unique and classy engagement session took place at Chenault Vineyard in Richmond, complete with a dreamy picnic at the point.  I knew if the engagement and vision Sabrina had was any indication of their wedding day it was going to be a good one.  Zach and Sabrina’s wedding day at Heart of Grace was a classic August day with accents of steel blue and refined details.

I arrived at Heart of Grace– for the third wedding of mine in a row (just call me a resident of the venue at this point haha) -- to a beautiful array of shades of blue, a generous amount of florals, and a unique sweetheart table at the center of everything with a custom gazebo type awning.  This made me feel as though I’d been transported to Stars Hollow.  Lanta, their talented planner blew another wedding out of the water!  I went to greet the bride and while Sabrina had a vision, she boasted a calm and collected demeanor throughout the day.  Her mom and grandma helped her get ready in some heartfelt moments in the beautiful bridal suite.  The way they looked at her with all smiles and awe at the stunning bride she made was precious.  Zach donned all his attire for the day as well, featuring a custom suit from Cuff to Collar with embroidery and other fun details.  It’s nice when a Groom goes all out and cares about the details too!

The spot we chose the first look was adjacent to the cove with hanging branches overhead and dreamy light glistening through the leaves.  After the first look we stepped back just far enough away to still capture the private vows Zach and Sabrina had opted to share in this moment.  It was a sweet, intimate moment practically just between the two of them.  They kept their eyes locked on each other and were so ready for this day.  Relief seemed to flood this couple after seeing each other.  After a few portraits in this spot, we walked to the nearby – what I call cove– at Heart of Grace which is really just a fairytale forest-like spot when the light hits it just right.  On this day it did.  Capturing just the two of them and their love was really important to Zach and Sabrina so we honed in on this before having the bridal party join.

After bridal party photos, where their friends definitely brought the hype, it was time for the ceremony.  This ceremony took place in front of the pond with light shimmering and bouncing off the glassy surface behind the arch.  Zach and Sabrina chose to have a unity candle lighting.  The ceremony went both smoothly and beautifully.  After the couple was announced officially as husband and wife and excitedly made their way down the aisle, the bridal party shortly followed.  When one of the bridesmaids didn’t have an escort a guest at the end of the aisle hopped up to fill the role, resulting in laughter erupting among the crowd!

As mentioned, the venue was especially dressed to the 9’s for this day.  It featured an extravagant charcuterie board – literally the most epic one I’ve seen!!  Blue accents surrounded each table scape and the sweetheart table with draped linens and hanging glass jars really was the showstopper. Blue glasses with a dainty, classic pattern covering the glass added an elegant touch.  After being announced into the reception, Sabrina and Zach really took intentional time during the game where you get a table picture with each table in the course of one song.  Their guests were important to them and it showed in this effort to not just take a picture with, but interact with every guest. They didn’t let the music rush them and took their time being truly intentional and gifting everyone with smiles.  On their questionnaire Sabrina said she was most excited for A. Marrying her best friend and B. Mexican Food.  Let me tell you the Mexican food did not disappoint!.  We ended the night with some elevated sunset photos, thanks to the beautiful sunset setup Lanta arranged at the edge of the field with sunset glowing behind.  Zach got a few more fun shots with his groomsmen as well and the cigars he had gifted them.  They closed out the night with more celebration with their friends and family!

Zach and Sabrina, thank you for having me capture you day!!! I loved getting to be a part of capturing your love and hopefully making your vision come true.  Enjoy some more favorites!!!
