Mu & Kelsey > A Victorian Boho Inspired Fall Wedding

Can we make weddings that feel like family a trend? I first got to know Mu through photography, as he is a photographer also for a local church I sometimes visit. So of course when he asked me to capture his wedding this fall I was so excited! Getting to know Kelsey more as well and her sweet, artistic personality through this process has been a joy! When we met for coffee and they told me about their vision for their day featuring dark victorian and bohemian accents, coupled with a masquerade reception, I was totally on board. The fact that their wedding with such a unique theme was taking place the day before Halloween made it even more perfect!

When arriving at the venue, I was shocked to find that this beautiful venue, Rustic Ridge was only minutes from my house. Kelsey was doing the finishing touches of hair and makeup surrounded by close friends and family in the beautiful bridal suite! During this time I intentionally arranged the details and flatlays that Kelsey and Mu had clearly thoughtfully put together for this day. From the handmade masks for the reception to the personal vow books every decision showed intention and creativity— qualities also apparent in Mu and Kelsey’s relationship.

After a touching father/daughter first look it was time for Mu to see his bride. Kelsey approached and the anticipation built as she tapped him on the shoulder— his tearful reaction resulting in one of those memorable first looks you know better than to interrupt. This moment made the whole day worth it and you could see their relief and the peace they had just being together.

More unique touches were included throughout the remainder of the day. To start off the ceremony with a bang, two of their ushers/friends also doubled as “flower boys” — one of the latest wedding trends I hope is here to stay. They definitely made a grand entrance with fanny packs, sunglasses, and flower petals in tow. Additionally the ceremony was officiated by Mu’s young adult pastor making it more personal. Straying from more traditional practices, Mu and Kelsey made their special moment painting canvases together, another nod to their creativity. After some more portraits and bridal party photos featuring masks and more thematic elements of the day, Mu and Kelsey truly celebrated their marriage dancing with their friends and family in the most fun dance circle. Again they made their own type of exit through a light tunnel, spinning a few times for us to add even more of a wow-factor.

Thank you Mu and Kelsey for choosing my to capture your day! I loved being a part of it and seeing the creativity of your vision come to life!
